Legal Requirements for Driving Rental Vehicles
To rent a vehicle in any state, drivers must meet our legal requirements. These include:
- Driver’s license: You must have a valid domestic or foreign driver’s license. We must be shown a physical license card. We do not accept copies or photographs.
- Payment method: You must have a valid method of payment. We accept debit cards (No TD, Citi or Chase) and all major credit cards. We do not accept prepaid cards, reloadable cards, or gift cards.
- Minimum age: You must be 21 or older
You may add additional drivers to your rental, but keep in mind that every driver who operates the vehicle must go through the same approval process as the renter. This includes meeting the age requirements and possessing a valid driver’s license. If you plan to have another driver pick up the vehicle from the airport or rental location, you should also be sure that they know what name the rental account is under.
E-ZPass and Toll Policy
Every C.C. Rental vehicle is equipped with an E-ZPass transponder that automatically tracks your tolls and applies them to your credit card account. E-ZPass also applies a $1.50 service fee per toll. Toll charges apply separately from your rental charge. At the end of your rental period, you will likely see one large charge for your rental followed by multiple small charges for tolls. Keep in mind that tolls may not be applied for up to 48 hours after you drive through the toll area.
You may not remove or tamper with E-ZPass transponders and will be charged extra for a damaged or missing transponder. You also may not use your own E-ZPass transponder, even if you own one. Each transponder is registered to a specific license plate number and vehicle model, so personal transponders will not apply to C.C. Rentals’ vehicles.
Maximum Mileage Policy
Base rental fees in New York, New Jersey, and Georgia include a maximum mileage. For rental periods of under one month, the maximum is 100 miles per day. For long-term rental periods, the maximum is 1,500 miles per month. Miles over the maximum are charged at 15 cents per additional mile on cars, and 26 cents per additional mile for all other vehicles. This policy applies to all vehicles and rentals.
Base rental fees in Florida include unlimited mileage. There is no maximum or excess mileage charge in Florida.
Vehicle Return Policy
For rentals in New York, New Jersey, and Georgia, vehicles must be returned before the hour and minute of pick-up. If you pick up your vehicle at 5:20 p.m., then you must return the vehicle to our location before 5:20 p.m. at the end of your rental period. There is a one-hour grace period to accommodate unexpected delays before late fees apply. Vehicles should be returned to the same location from which they were rented. Additional transfer fees apply for vehicles returned to a different location.
For rentals in Florida, C.C. Rental does not have a return location. Vehicle returns are coordinated on a per rental basis. Call us for more information.
Gas Policy
In all states, rental vehicles must be returned with the same amount of gas they had when you picked them up. Additional fees apply if you do not return your vehicle with the same amount of gas.
