To legally drive a rental vehicle in New Jersey, you must meet a handful of requirements. Double-check that the following are true before contacting us for a reservation:

• Driver’s license: You must have a valid U.S. or foreign driver’s license. C.C. Rental requires you to present a physical license. We will not accept a photo or a copy.
• Payment method: You must be able to pay for your rental. We accept all major credit and debit cards. We do not accept prepaid, reloadable, or gift cards.
• Minimum age: You must be at least the minimum age to operate the vehicle. Please call in advance to confirm the age requirement for your desired rental.

If you add other drivers to your rental contract, all of them must meet the driver’s license and age requirements. Please provide every driver’s information in advance so we can confirm their eligibility. If you will have another driver pick up your rental vehicle, make sure they know whose name the reservation was made under.

All C.C. Rental vehicles come with an E-ZPass transponder that automatically tracks the toll areas you drive through and charges the tolls to your credit card. You will also be charged a $1.50 service fee for each toll. The tolls are charged separately from your vehicle rental. After your rental period, you will see one large charge for your rental and several small charges for your tolls. All these charges, including toll charges, must be paid in full. 

Do not remove or tamper with the E-ZPass transponder. You will be charged extra for a damaged or missing transponder. Also, do not use your own E-ZPass transponder. Every transponder is registered to a specific vehicle, and all tolls must go through the C.C. Rental E-ZPass system. Transponders cannot be swapped between vehicles.

Our rental contracts in New Jersey include a maximum mileage. For periods under one month, the maximum is equal to 100 miles per day. For long-term rentals, the maximum is 1,500 miles per month. If you exceed your maximum, we will charge 15 cents per additional mile for cars, and 26 cents per additional mile for trucks and vans.

Rental periods are based on the 24-hour day, calculated from the hour and minute of pick-up. If you picked up your vehicle at 4:03 p.m., then you must also return the vehicle before 4:03 p.m. at the end of your contracted period. We do provide one hour of grace for returning late vehicles before any late fees apply. Vehicles must be returned to the location from which they were picked up. Additional fees apply if you return the vehicle to a different C.C. Rental location.

Vehicles must also be returned with the same amount of gas they had at the time of pick-up. Before driving your rental, make sure to check the gas level so you can fill the tank properly before the drop-off. Additional fees apply if you return the vehicle without refueling.
