Our Rental Vehicle Policies in New York City & Long Island City

Before renting a vehicle, it is important to understand the limits and policies that apply. Familiarity with rental company policies will help you avoid complications and extra charges for the smoothest rental experience. C.C. To be eligible for vehicle rentals in New York, drivers must meet a handful of legal requirements. Be sure you meet the following requirements before reserving:

• Driver’s license: You must present a physical, valid driver’s license. We accept domestic and foreign licenses. We do not accept photos or copies of a driver’s license.
• Payment method: We accept payment from any major credit or debit card. We do not accept prepaid cards, reloadable cards, or gift cards.
• Minimum age:  All renters must be 21 or older
• You may add additional drivers to your rental. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the minimum age requirement for the vehicle you are renting. They must also be approved by C.C. Rental. Be sure to provide every driver’s information in advance for approval. You may have another approved driver pick up your rental vehicle, but make sure they know what name your reservation is under.

Every C.C. Rental vehicle comes with an E-ZPass transponder attached to the inside of the windshield. The E-ZPass transponder automatically tracks the toll areas you pass through and charges the correct total to your credit card, plus a $1.50 service charge. Tolls are charged separately from your vehicle rental, usually within 48 hours of passing through the toll area. After your rental period ends, you will see a charge for your rental followed by several small charges for tolls.

You may not remove or tamper with the E-ZPass transponder. You also may not use your own E-ZPass transponder. Every transponder is registered for a specific model vehicle and license plate. All tolls on our rental vehicles must go through our E-ZPass system. Customers are charged $50 extra for damaged or missing E-ZPass transponders. 

The cost of a vehicle rental from C.C. Rental covers up to a specific mileage. For rental periods of less than one month, we allow 100 miles per day. For long-term rentals, we allow 1,500 miles per month. Mileage that exceeds the maximum is charged per mile. We charge 15 cents per additional mile for cars and 26 cents per additional mile for all other vehicles. We do not offer unlimited mileage.

Rental vehicles must be returned before the hour and minute of pick-up. For example, if you pick up your vehicle at 4:03 p.m., then you must return the vehicle before 4:03 p.m. at the end of your rental period. We allow a one-hour grace period before late fees apply. Vehicles must also be returned to the same borough from which they were rented. Vehicles picked up from Midtown or Chelsea may be returned to Midtown or Chelsea. Vehicles picked up from Long Island City must be returned to Long Island City.

Rental vehicles must be returned with the same gas volume they had when they were picked up. Please check the gas level at pick-up to ensure your tank is filled properly before drop-off. Additional fees apply for vehicles returned with insufficient gas.

Can I pay for unlimited mileage?

No, C.C. Rental does not have a purchase option for unlimited mileage.

Do I need a commercial driver’s license (CDL) to drive box trucks from C.C. Rental?

No, you do not need a CDL to drive our box trucks. All C.C. Rental vehicles can be rented and operated with a regular driver’s license.

Will C.C. Rental charge my credit card before my rental?

We will authorize your credit card for a minimum of $1,000 before we release a vehicle to you. This money may be unavailable to you for up to 30 days if using a debit card.
